CT-ART + WinXP ?

Today I installed CT-ART 3.0 on my Windows XP, but it doesn't work. When I run the program it gives me address errors like "Access violation at address 00559A46 in module 'Ct-Art.exe'. Read of address 0000000024" when I click the buttons, and sometimes "Runtime error 501(249)", which finishes the program.

Has anybody had a similar experience? Is this a XP problem? The cd has a patch, but it didn't solve the problem.

Hmm, seems like this was not my lucky day...

I'm running on XP Pro and have had that problem on occasion. Make sure you have all the latest XP updates from Microsoft installed.

I was about to place an online order for CT-ART 3.0 from Russia. It takes 3 weeks to be deliverd to my home town. However, I have stopped after reading your post. I have Windows XP with Service Pack 1. Will this software work? What to do?

I am running WIN XP Pro, SP2, and have the very same problem. I have written the CT-ART 3.0 folks twice for a fix, no response. Perhaps I should stick with Fritz 10. It's all the training I can handle, anyway.

BTW--www.chessclub.com beats Yahoo Chess by a mile.

Solution (their instructions they send you are confusing at best, and just flat-out wrong most likely):

1. Burn only the folders ENGLISH and FONT to a CD (yes, you actually have to burn the software to CD after downloading it: it's ridiculous).

2. Open ENGLISH and run ct-art.exe.

DO NOT burn the folder ct-art 3.0 to your CD. It WILL NOT work, even though in the instructions it seems that they are telling you do do exactly that.
